Thompson Springs

Overview and Background of Replat:

The original plat within central Thompson Springs was developed using a historical grid network of small lots referenced from the Railroad Right of Way. Over time many of the original parcels were developed in different ways, such as:

  1. The County road and alley rights-of-way became prescriptive as common traveled routes shifted outside the legal boundaries;
  2. Owners began using some of the land, such as alleyways, and other lots; and
  3. Some parcels encroached on adjacent parcels.

The Draft Sketch replat takes a balanced look at settling these issues.

Next Steps:

  • P&Z to work with affected property owners and County Surveyor to resolve parcel boundary adjustments.

  • P&Z to distribute a letter to all affected property owners with final version of the Replat and request for consent to move forward, along with information on signing procedures in preparation for public meeting and recording.

  • Public meeting at County Commission to adopt resolution approving the Replat.

  • In-person meeting with property owners at Fire Station to sign the mylar.
